Schools Renewable Energy University Research

AI Thread Summary
Major universities are actively engaging in renewable energy research, particularly in solar power and energy generation. While there is a significant focus on electrical engineering (EE) degrees for careers in this field, physics degrees are also relevant. The discussion highlights the substantial financial investments from companies and government facilities in solar energy research, indicating a robust industry demand. However, there is a perception that university-level research may not be as prominent as expected. Resources and programs dedicated to renewable energy research are available at various institutions, and prospective students are encouraged to explore specific programs by searching online with relevant keywords related to renewable energy and engineering disciplines.

Are there any major universities doing research on renewable energy (solar power) or energy generation? It seems that many of the companies that are working on renewable energy are looking for EE degrees rather than physics degrees. Should I consider an EE degree if I want to do research in renewable energy? There are companies and government facilities pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into solar energy research, but there doesn't seem to be any university research on the topic...?

Any help would be appreciated.

Search Google with "renewable energy","university", and one could add the name of particular universities or disciplines, e.g. "mechanical engineering" or "electrical engineering".

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
