AI Thread Summary
To copy the entire hard drive image from an IBM Thinkpad T40 to an IBM Thinkpad R52, it's important to consider the dissimilar hardware, which complicates a simple backup and restore process. Tools like "Parted" and its variations can facilitate this transfer, as they are commonly included in various Linux live CDs, such as Knoppix. However, the user expresses a lack of experience with Linux and programming, which may hinder their ability to perform the backup and restore effectively. Exploring user-friendly options or software that simplifies the process for those unfamiliar with Linux could be beneficial.

How can I copy my the entire harddrive image from my IBM Thinkpad T40 to another IBM Thinkpad R52? Since there is dissimilar hardware a simple backup/restore will not work. I have read about a few products that can do this. I am just trying to find the easiest way to make this happen.

And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
