Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around troubleshooting a 7 segment circuit created in Multisim. Participants are exploring potential reasons for the circuit's failure to operate as expected, with a focus on the configuration of the 7 segment display and the associated components.

Discussion Character

  • Technical explanation, Debate/contested, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant seeks help regarding a non-functioning 7 segment circuit in Multisim, indicating that they followed a datasheet for guidance.
  • Another participant inquires about whether the display is a common anode or common cathode type, suggesting that this distinction is crucial for troubleshooting.
  • A third participant confirms that the display is a common cathode type and asks about the output voltages from the integrated circuit when switches are sequenced in the simulation.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants have not reached a consensus on the specific issue preventing the circuit from running, and multiple viewpoints regarding the configuration and testing methods remain present.

Contextual Notes

There may be limitations related to the assumptions about the circuit configuration, the specific components used, and the details of the simulation setup that have not been fully addressed.

Who May Find This Useful

Students and hobbyists working with circuit simulations, particularly those interested in 7 segment displays and troubleshooting in Multisim.

Hi All,
I'm a student and I work with Multisim - I want to create a Simple 7 segment circuit using the Multisim
I have created the circuit step by step looking at a circuit in a datasheet of the 7 segment - and it didn't run at all. Why? (see picture attached)

Can someone help me with that please?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

U2 - common anode or kathode?

Common Cathode - see reference

In your simulation, when you sequence the switches, what output voltages do you get from the IC?
