AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the retention of text messages and emails over time. One user notes that their current phone, purchased in December 2013, contains texts dating back to February 2014, with some messages from 2013 that evoke fond memories. They mention a personal practice of regularly deleting texts from individual conversations once they reach a threshold of around 100 messages, resulting in texts typically not older than one or two weeks. In contrast, the user highlights a different approach to emails, stating they have archived emails dating back to 2009 and some that go as far back as 2010, indicating a tendency to preserve important emails longer than text messages.

And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
