What type of software to configure coils, inductors, transformers?

AI Thread Summary
Users are seeking software to configure coils, inductors, transformers, and related components, emphasizing the need for basic features like core selection and component availability. There is an acknowledgment of the abundance of free and shareware options available. The original poster is experiencing issues with a coil and rotor assembly they constructed, which is not performing as expected. A user named Nugatory is mentioned but indicates they are not able to assist, as their expertise lies in software design rather than hardware configuration. The discussion highlights a need for practical software solutions in electrical engineering design.

What type of software?

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a simple software program that I may be able to configure coils, inductors, transformers, core selection etc. Basic ic availability, selection of switches, LEDs, types/strenghths/shapes of permanent magnets. I'm aware that there is a lot of free/shareware out there. Would you know of one out there that would suit my direction of intereset.

I'm having a little issue with the coil and rotor essembly I constructed. It's not doing what I intuitivley would expect.

Thanks for all your help.

Ping @Nugatory . Can you help with this spring cleaning thread?

I'm sorry, but I'm no help - I made my living designing software, as opposed to designing things with software.

Thread 'Weird near-field phenomenon I get in my EM simulation'
I recently made a basic simulation of wire antennas and I am not sure if the near field in my simulation is modeled correctly. One of the things that worry me is the fact that sometimes I see in my simulation "movements" in the near field that seems to be faster than the speed of wave propagation I defined (the speed of light in the simulation). Specifically I see "nodes" of low amplitude in the E field that are quickly "emitted" from the antenna and then slow down as they approach the far...
Hello dear reader, a brief introduction: Some 4 years ago someone started developing health related issues, apparently due to exposure to RF & ELF related frequencies and/or fields (Magnetic). This is currently becoming known as EHS. (Electromagnetic hypersensitivity is a claimed sensitivity to electromagnetic fields, to which adverse symptoms are attributed.) She experiences a deep burning sensation throughout her entire body, leaving her in pain and exhausted after a pulse has occurred...
