Classical Which book is better for the physics olympiad?

AI Thread Summary
For preparing for the mechanics section of the physics Olympiad, both "Introduction to Mechanics" by Kleppner and Kolenkow and "Introduction to Classical Mechanics" by David Morin are recommended, with an emphasis on solving numerous problems from these texts. Morin's book is noted for having solutions included, which can aid in understanding. In the area of electromagnetism, "Electricity and Magnetism" by Purcell and Morin is suggested alongside Griffiths' "Introduction to Electrodynamics," with additional recommendations for David Cheng's and Nayfe's books for their quality problems. For relativity, "Gravity" by Hartle is mentioned, but the discussion invites suggestions for other suitable texts in this category. Overall, the consensus highlights the importance of problem-solving across all recommended books to excel in the Olympiad.

Hi Ankit!
The truth is,for olympiad one should solve many problems. You could find the lessons in every books.I recommend you get all of them, and
solve the problems available on them.I also think the Morin's mechanics got the soloutions on itself too.
David cheng's electromagnetic and Nayfe's one got good problems.

Hi, I have notice that Ashcroft, Mermin and Wei worked at a revised edition of the original solid state physics book (here). The book, however, seems to be never available. I have also read that the reason is related to some disputes related to copyright. Do you have any further information about it? Did you have the opportunity to get your hands on this revised edition? I am really curious about it, also considering that I am planning to buy the book in the near future... Thanks!
