AI Thread Summary
A user is experiencing significant performance issues with a video game, noting that the program's memory usage has increased to 220K, compared to the usual 80-90K, rendering the game nearly unplayable. Despite updating the video card driver, running a virus scan, and reinstalling the game, the problem persists. It is suggested that increased memory usage might be due to the game's progression, as many games require more resources as levels expand and more objects are introduced. The age of the computer and the specific game in question could also be contributing factors to the performance decline.

Hello,

I really need some help here. I am running a video game on my computer which I have been playing for quite some time. Just last night I started getting what I thought was lag. Then I realized that the program was running at 220 K when it usually runs at 80 - 90. This was making the game virtually unplayable for me.

I've checked that my video card driver is updated
I've run a virus scan
I've reinstalled the program

I don't know what the issue could be.

Any help would be much appreciated

cheers,

dacruick

A program using 220K of RAM is bogging down your computer? What game is this, and how old is your computer?

Many video games use more memory the further into the game you get because levels get bigger and objects more plentiful.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Sorry if 'Profile Badge' is not the correct term. I have an MS 365 subscription and I've noticed on my Word documents the small circle with my initials in it is sometimes different in colour document to document (it's the circle at the top right of the doc, that, when you hover over it it tells you you're signed in; if you click on it you get a bit more info). Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...
