Is this angular momentum question correct?
Homework Statement A ball traveling in a straight line, colides with the end of a pole on a centre pivot, ie, the pole initially has inertia given by equation (ML^2)/12.After the colision, the ball sticks to the pole and the two rotate together. What is needed to be found is the angular speed...- Lachlan1

Angle needed on banked corner of road.
thanks for the replies. No, the car is not accelerating in the vertical direction, so i can see why the forces in the vertical must equal zero. I have been looking at a link at the bottom of the page to a question posted on here over a year ago which was asking the same question i am.- Lachlan1

Angle needed on banked corner of road.
Homework Statement this example is in the txtbook so i know the answer, but i don't really get the second part. The road needs to be at a banked angle so the car traveling at 13.4m/s can go around with no friction needed, the radius of the corner is 35m. Homework Equations the...- Lachlan1

How Does Doubling the F Number Affect Exposure Time?
Hi, thanks for that. But the question is asking what is the difference in the time of exposure. do you know what is being referred to as light energy? -- well i just found out the answer is four, but I am not sure how to get that?- Lachlan1

Basic Nuclear Decay: Calculating Min Mass for 10Ci in 30 Months
Homework Statement [SIZE="1"]60Co, half life = 5.2 years, decays by emittion of a beta particle (0.31 MeV) and two gamma particles (1.71MeV and 1.33MeV). what is the minimum initial mass needed of [SIZE="1"]60Co that will have an activity of at least 10Ci after 30 months? Homework...- Lachlan1

What Is the Maximum Force to Apply on a Sled Before a Penguin Slips Off?
ok, so if the sled and penguin are pulled with a force equal to the frictional force of the sled and penguin on the ice, the whole sled moves at a constant velocity, as forces are balanced, there is no net force, and so the penguin has no frictional force acting on it. but then if the...- Lachlan1

Centripedal acceleration and force question
Homework Statement i can't fully understand this concept. is this correct? standing on the Earth's surface i have two forces acting on me. the force due to the fact that i have mass, and so does the earth. given by equation f = (Gm1m2)/r (this force would be acting if the Earth was not...- Lachlan1

Projectile Trajectory: Why Does the Angle of Fire Remain Constant?
a change in angle changes the ratio of the vertical to horizontal velocity components of the arrow. mathematically, for the targets to meet over a range of vector velocities, each of these component velocities, these two variables, must keep a certain relationship to the single variable, the...- Lachlan1

What is the minimum velocity needed for a tennis ball to pass through the net?
you need to find the time it takes for the ball to reach the top of the net. this is the same time as if it were to fall from 2.4m height, straight down to 0.9m- Lachlan1
