AI Thread Summary
The internet connection issue lasted for three months, and upon restoration, problems arose with signing into MSN and setting a desktop background. The inability to change the desktop background suggests a potential virus that may have taken control of system settings. Additionally, the inability to access the MSN account could indicate that it was compromised, with the password possibly changed by someone else. If the MSN account has been inactive for a prolonged period, it may have been deleted, necessitating the creation of a new account. For account recovery, users are advised to utilize the MSN Help Center for assistance.

That is far too vague for anyone to give an accurate diagnosis.

The internet being down isn't going to stop you setting a desktop background.

It sounds like you've had some form of virus - some take over various controls and prevent you changing the background etc.

If you can't sign into MSN, it's possible that someone else took over your MSN account and changed the password. This exact thing happened to my wife's hotmail account. We contacted MSN Help and were able to set things right, although it took a few times. Each time my wife changed her password, the miscreant was able to change it again.

If this is your problem, here's a link that might help:

Your internet has been down for 3 months?
Doesn't sound like an ISP problem, rather a subscriber issue.
After some set period of inactivity(it used to be 30 days, now I think it's 90) your original MSN account is considered "inactive" and thus deleted.

You will need to sign-up with a new account.

Thread 'Urgent: Physically repair - or bypass - power button on Asus laptop'
Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
