Asking for your sources of images of the whole earth.

AI Thread Summary
A Norwegian image maker expresses concerns about discrepancies in Earth photographs from Apollo missions compared to those from the space shuttle and orbiters, particularly regarding atmospheric scattering and surface material. He seeks images of Earth from missions other than Apollo, ideally from altitudes above 45,000 km and below one lunar distance, as he has been unable to find any. The discussion touches on the topic of conspiracy theories regarding the Apollo missions, with a warning that such discussions may lead to thread closure. Participants suggest checking NASA's website for relevant images. The inquiry highlights ongoing interest in the authenticity and variety of Earth imagery from space missions.

Hello there,

I am a Norwegian image maker. Unfortunately, I find discrepancies between photographs of the Earth from the Apollo missions (such as the blue marble) and images from the space shuttle and orbiters, which I cannot explain. They vary from the appearance of the atmospheric scattering of light to, in some places, the material which the surface appears to be composed of.

To avoid wasting your time, please let me cut to the question:

Are you aware of images taken of the Earth from other missions than the Apollo missions? Preferably from an altitude above ~45 000 km or ~30,000 miles and less than circa one lunar distance?

I have failed to find any, so I am asking here.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,
Marius

EDIT: I censored the thread to clear it of illegal material.

What are the view of cosmologists on the conspiracy theory of the faking of the Apollo missions?
PF's view is that conspiracy theories in general are a forbidden subject.

Seems to me it doesn't violate posting guidelines to ask for photos, but if you hope to have any discussions about conspiracy theories, you can expect this thread to get locked heap quick.

You should be able to find images at NASA's website.

Here is a good resource: http://planetary.org/explore/topics/earth/ spacecraft .html

Should that be a surprise?

Is a homemade radio telescope realistic? There seems to be a confluence of multiple technologies that makes the situation better than when I was a wee lad: software-defined radio (SDR), the easy availability of satellite dishes, surveillance drives, and fast CPUs. Let's take a step back - it is trivial to see the sun in radio. An old analog TV, a set of "rabbit ears" antenna, and you're good to go. Point the antenna at the sun (i.e. the ears are perpendicular to it) and there is...
This thread is dedicated to the beauty and awesomeness of our Universe. If you feel like it, please share video clips and photos (or nice animations) of space and objects in space in this thread. Your posts, clips and photos may by all means include scientific information; that does not make it less beautiful to me (n.b. the posts must of course comply with the PF guidelines, i.e. regarding science, only mainstream science is allowed, fringe/pseudoscience is not allowed). n.b.
