Admissions Are Spring Semester Admissions More Competitive for Junior Undergrad Transfers?

AI Thread Summary
Universities generally see a higher volume of transfer applications for the fall semester compared to spring, as many students complete their two-year degrees and seek to transfer at that time. While some students may drop out in the fall, leading to potential openings in the spring, overall acceptance rates for junior undergrad transfers are typically lower in that semester. Certain majors or departments at some universities may not accept transfer students in the spring at all. Additionally, some institutions have policies that restrict spring transfers entirely. Therefore, students should carefully research individual university policies regarding transfer admissions for both semesters.

Are univs more likely to accept you as a junior undergrad transfer student for a spring semester rather than fall?

I would assume some students would drop out in the fall, so you would replace them in the spring or something like that.

I would imagine it would be more likely in the fall. A lot of transfer students are finishing their 2 year degrees and are looking to transfer for a 4 year university after their fourth semester.

I'm not sure about the admissions chances, but way more students transfer for the fall semester, not the spring. Some schools don't accept transfers in the spring for certain majors or departments. Some schools don't accept any transfers, regardless, for the spring

TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
