Average/typical twist angles of a jet turbine blade

AI Thread Summary
The typical twist angles of turbine blades in airplane engines range from 0 to 20 degrees, with variations along the blade length. The pitch is greatest at the hub and decreases towards the tip due to differences in blade tip speed. For more precise information, consulting manufacturers like General Electric or Rolls-Royce is recommended, as they may provide insights without revealing trade secrets. While specific angles weren't cited, the discussed range aligns with general understanding. Gathering more detailed data from industry sources could enhance the accuracy of the findings.

Hi guys,
I'm trying to find info with respect to twist angles of a turbine blade (for airplane engines, let's say)... I read somewhere on the forum that it's typically 0-20 degrees. I'm trying to look for quoted sources though or at least second opinions on that matter.

Thanks for the post! Sorry you aren't generating responses at the moment. Do you have any further information, come to any new conclusions or is it possible to reword the post?

This might be overly simplistic, but have you tried asking folks like General Electric or Rolls-Royce who make the engines? They might provide that, and even more, information as long as it doesn't get into the realm of trade secrets. The worst that can happen is that they turn you down.

The pitch varies along the length of the blade, being greatest at the hub and at a smaller pitch at the tip, due to the blade tip speed being much higher than the speed at the hub. I don't have specific or referenced angles, however you are definitely close with your range.

Thread 'Physics of Stretch: What pressure does a band apply on a cylinder?'
Scenario 1 (figure 1) A continuous loop of elastic material is stretched around two metal bars. The top bar is attached to a load cell that reads force. The lower bar can be moved downwards to stretch the elastic material. The lower bar is moved downwards until the two bars are 1190mm apart, stretching the elastic material. The bars are 5mm thick, so the total internal loop length is 1200mm (1190mm + 5mm + 5mm). At this level of stretch, the load cell reads 45N tensile force. Key numbers...
I'm trying to decide what size and type of galvanized steel I need for 2 cantilever extensions. The cantilever is 5 ft. The space between the two cantilever arms is a 17 ft Gap the center 7 ft of the 17 ft Gap we'll need to Bear approximately 17,000 lb spread evenly from the front of the cantilever to the back of the cantilever over 5 ft. I will put support beams across these cantilever arms to support the load evenly
