AI Thread Summary
A USB Y-cable can be used to connect a USB keyboard to two different PCs without needing to unplug and replug it. However, compatibility issues may arise, particularly with older systems like Windows NT 4.0, which only supports PS/2 connections. In this case, a USB-to-PS/2 converter is being utilized, but it requires a direct connection to the older PC, bypassing the KVM switch due to a keyboard error during the hardware check. The KVM switch is currently only handling video and audio peripherals. While a specific USB Y-cable is available for purchase, its effectiveness for keyboard use remains uncertain.

Is there such a thing as a USB Y-cable? I have a USB keyboard that I'd like to use for 2 alternate PCs without plugging it out of one and into the other whenever I switch.

I have a KVM switch but the keyboard will not function on one of the PCs through the KVM switch. It needs a direct plugin to the older PC which is running WinNT4, has only PS/2 ports and no USB. I am using a USB-to-PS/2 convertor to plug the keyboard into that old PC; but it has to be a direct plugin that goes around the KVM. (KVM leads to a "Keyboard error" during Hardware check before WinNT is loaded.)

Right now the KVM is being used just for video and audio peripherals.

Thanks in advance for any useful ideas.

In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
Thread 'ChatGPT Examples, Good and Bad'
I've been experimenting with ChatGPT. Some results are good, some very very bad. I think examples can help expose the properties of this AI. Maybe you can post some of your favorite examples and tell us what they reveal about the properties of this AI. (I had problems with copy/paste of text and formatting, so I'm posting my examples as screen shots. That is a promising start. But then I provided values V=1, R1=1, R2=2, R3=3 and asked for the value of I. At first, it said...
