Determine the max height of the shell

AI Thread Summary
A cannon launches a shell from a cliff at an initial velocity of 710 m/s at a 35-degree angle, landing 15 meters below its launch point. The discussion focuses on calculating the maximum height of the shell, its horizontal range from the cliff's base, and the impact velocity upon hitting the ground. Participants emphasize the importance of attempting to solve the problem independently before seeking help. A resource link is provided to assist with projectile motion calculations. The conversation highlights the common nature of such physics questions in academic forums.

a cannon is placed on an edge of a cliff and launches shell with an initial velocity of 710m/s [35degrees above the horizontal]. the shell lands 15m below its launching position.
a) determine the max height of the shell
b) determine the horizontal range of the shell from the base of the cliff
c) determine the velocity of the shell on impact ( the second it hits the ground)

thanks!~

I see a lot of these types of questions on here. You would be best served by reading the sticky posts about posting homework questions.

You have to at least TRY to find a solution yourself.

lmao you i eventually got it after i looked at it a second time ~ ty anywho dude / duddette

TL;DR Summary: I came across this question from a Sri Lankan A-level textbook. Question - An ice cube with a length of 10 cm is immersed in water at 0 °C. An observer observes the ice cube from the water, and it seems to be 7.75 cm long. If the refractive index of water is 4/3, find the height of the ice cube immersed in the water. I could not understand how the apparent height of the ice cube in the water depends on the height of the ice cube immersed in the water. Does anyone have an...
Kindly see the attached pdf. My attempt to solve it, is in it. I'm wondering if my solution is right. My idea is this: At any point of time, the ball may be assumed to be at an incline which is at an angle of θ(kindly see both the pics in the pdf file). The value of θ will continuously change and so will the value of friction. I'm not able to figure out, why my solution is wrong, if it is wrong .
