LaTeX Easier way to type out LaTeX assignments?

Hello,

I've recently been asked to submit my assignments using LaTeX and its really time consuming to have to type \begin{math} \end{math} every time I need to switch between English and math symbols.

Can you suggest me a LaTeX editor that can speed up the process? (like with auto-fills or something).

Doesn't using $x^2$ get you into math mode quickly?

$ ... $ is inline math mode.
$$ ... $$ is an alternative to \begin{equation} ... \end{equation}
