Not really. It's just that this case is symmetric in one of the reference frames so is easy to analyse. You can use any other place on the train and come to the same conclusion, but the situation is more complex to describe and analyse.JulianM said:Where this becomes important is in Einstein's next step in choosing the position of his observers.
