AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around the concept of hydroxyl bonds, with participants expressing confusion about the term. It appears that the term "hydroxyl bond" may be a misnomer, as the conversation suggests it refers to hydrogen bonding, which involves the attraction between oxygen and hydrogen atoms due to differences in electronegativity. Participants mention finding limited information online and share links to academic sources for further reading. The overall consensus is that hydroxyl bonds likely refer to the same phenomenon as hydrogen bonds.

hello
I read about it in a book but I find anything about in the web. How is it formed and how does it behave?

Do you mean hydrogen bond? Hydroxyl group? I haven't heard of hydroxyl bonds.

There is a short explanation about it in the book but I didn't understand :/

I just found this two web pages about that bond.

I assume they're talking about hydrogen bonding, which is where oxygen and hydrogen atoms are attracted to each other and form weak bonds due to a difference in electronegativity. It sounds like hydroxyl bond is another name for hydrogen bond.

I want to test a humidity sensor with one or more saturated salt solutions. The table salt that I have on hand contains one of two anticaking agents, calcium silicate or sodium aluminosilicate. Will the presence of either of these additives (or iodine for that matter) significantly affect the equilibrium humidity? I searched and all the how-to-do-it guides did not address this question. One research paper I found reported that at 1.5% w/w calcium silicate increased the deliquescent point by...
