I need some help with this project (optics and lens design)

AI Thread Summary
To focus an image on a 15mm film plane instead of the current 120mm, additional lenses can be added, but this will alter the overall focal length. The existing setup has a focal length of 60mm, which must be maintained or increased. It's possible to achieve the desired image size by either using the central 15mm of the current image or by adjusting the focal length with new lenses. The specifications for the new lenses will depend on the desired outcome and the adjustments made. Achieving the goal of shrinking the image from 120mm to 15mm is feasible with the right lens configuration.

The diagram below is not to scale. I'm trying to add a lens (or lenses) behind the one shown in this camera so that I can focus the image on a film plane of 15mm, rather than the current 120mm (Y). The focal length (X) needs to be at or greater than the current 60mm. What would the specifications be of a lens to accomplish this? Is it possible?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

If you have a chosen focal length then the size of the image is already fixed.
You can add extra lenses but that changes the focal length.
Or you can also chose to only use the central 15mm of the image

It's not a problem if I have to change the focal length. Shrinking the 120mm image down to 15mm is my goal here.

Thread 'A quartet of epi-illumination methods'
Well, it took almost 20 years (!!!), but I finally obtained a set of epi-phase microscope objectives (Zeiss). The principles of epi-phase contrast is nearly identical to transillumination phase contrast, but the phase ring is a 1/8 wave retarder rather than a 1/4 wave retarder (because with epi-illumination, the light passes through the ring twice). This method was popular only for a very short period of time before epi-DIC (differential interference contrast) became widely available. So...
I am currently undertaking a research internship where I am modelling the heating of silicon wafers with a 515 nm femtosecond laser. In order to increase the absorption of the laser into the oxide layer on top of the wafer it was suggested we use gold nanoparticles. I was tasked with modelling the optical properties of a 5nm gold nanoparticle, in particular the absorption cross section, using COMSOL Multiphysics. My model seems to be getting correct values for the absorption coefficient and...
After my surgery this year, gas remained in my eye for a while. The light air bubbles appeared to sink to the bottom, and I realized that the brain was processing the information to invert the up/down/left/right image transferred to the retina. I have a question about optics and ophthalmology. Does the inversion of the image transferred to the retina depend on the position of the intraocular focal point of the lens of the eye? For example, in people with farsightedness, the focal point is...
