Interested in becoming an Aerospace Engineer

AI Thread Summary
To pursue a career in aerospace engineering, strong math skills are essential, as the field is highly math-intensive. While raw talent is beneficial, consistent practice is crucial to improve mathematical abilities. For high school students interested in this path, taking physics or AP Physics is recommended to build a solid foundation. In college, majoring in aerospace engineering is the most direct route to entering the field. Overall, a commitment to enhancing math skills and selecting relevant courses will be key to success in aerospace engineering.

Sorry if this post has been made before, I could not find it but I have an interest in becoming an aerospace engineer but I have some questions to see if it's even right for me. One question is how good at math do you recommend I be and how much math is really involved? I'm alright at math, not my strongest but I'm not horrible at it. I'm currently a junior in high school and I'm taking AP Biology this year so I'm guessing it would be a good idea to do physics or AP physics next year, right? My final question is what courses/ degree should I pursue in college? Sorry if I worded this wrong. Thanks!

Very good. But this requires training instead of raw talent. So practice until you're good at it.

and how much math is really involved?

You'll need to know a lot of math eventually. It's quite math intensive.

Yes

Aerospace engineering such be an obvious choice for a major.

Thank you so much!

Micromass nailed it. Read his answer again and resolve to become very good at math.

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
