AI Thread Summary
A conversation unfolded regarding a supervisor's laptop displaying "EVO," which raised concerns about the potential theft of an employee's laptop named after her. Initial suspicions about the supervisor's intentions were expressed, questioning why he had the laptop and why the employee had not reported it missing. The employee, Evo, clarified that the laptop was indeed named after her, dispelling theft concerns. The discussion humorously acknowledged the frequent mention of Evo's name in the workplace, suggesting that the laptop was likely company-issued rather than stolen. Overall, the thread shifted from suspicion to relief, confirming that the supervisor was not a thief and alleviating worries about personal belongings.

Tonight while talking with my supervisor at his desk, I was startled, when of all things, I saw written in big letters on his laptop..."EVO". My first thoughts were, what is he doing with Evo's laptop? How does he know Evo to steal her laptop? Why hasn't Evo mentioned the loss of her laptop?

Still not sure what is going on, so I am going to keep an eye on him, you can never tell about these mangament types.

So, Evo, do you know where your laptop is?

Was that created by one of those geeks who made a shrine for you? :-p

We are a "Compaq shop" around here so I hear Evo's name mentioned frequently. Sometimes it can be kind of amusing.

Am I reading these replies correctly? Does this mean that just maybe the company DID buy that labtop for him... (now why would my company but that brand of laptop anyway? )

Does this mean that my boss is not a klepto? Perhaps I do not need to keep a hand on my wallet while he is arround... Whew... That is good news! o:)

Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
