Is taking an intro to programming class online over the summer a good idea?

AI Thread Summary
Taking an introductory programming class online is a beneficial decision for individuals with no prior programming experience, especially when preparing for a transfer to a state university. Enrolling in a summer course like CS 115 Intro to Computer Programming allows for a focused learning experience without the distractions of a full academic year. Do you guys think it would be a wise choice to take an into to programming class online if you've never had experience with it before?

I'm going to transfer to a state university next year, but I need a few basic programming classes first. The college I'm at right now doesn't offer the ones I need, but I just got the opportunity to take CS 115 Intro to Computer Programming online, over summer.

I'm good with computers as far as literacy goes. I can use Word, Excel, Spreadsheet, etc. - just never had any programmimg experience.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

I think that if you haven't ever programmed before, taking a course over the summer (rather than spring-fall or not at all) is a good idea.

Dear Peeps I have posted a few questions about programing on this sectio of the PF forum. I want to ask you veterans how you folks learn program in assembly and about computer architecture for the x86 family. In addition to finish learning C, I am also reading the book From bits to Gates to C and Beyond. In the book, it uses the mini LC3 assembly language. I also have books on assembly programming and computer architecture. The few famous ones i have are Computer Organization and...
I have a quick questions. I am going through a book on C programming on my own. Afterwards, I plan to go through something call data structures and algorithms on my own also in C. I also need to learn C++, Matlab and for personal interest Haskell. For the two topic of data structures and algorithms, I understand there are standard ones across all programming languages. After learning it through C, what would be the biggest issue when trying to implement the same data...
