Looking for a high vacuum 8" conlfat, any suggestions?

In summary, a high vacuum 8" conflat is a specialized piece of equipment used in vacuum systems for scientific and industrial applications. It is designed to provide a tight and leak-free seal between two components, typically using a metal gasket and bolts. When searching for a high vacuum 8" conflat, it is important to consider factors such as the material, pressure rating, and compatibility with other components in the system. Some popular options include stainless steel and aluminum conflat flanges. It is also recommended to consult with experts or reputable suppliers for specific recommendations and to ensure proper installation and maintenance.

Hey guys, I have had a lot of success finding what I need on campus for an experimental setup, but for some reason this piece has been alluding me.

I am trying to source an 8" HV conflat with 5.75" ID. It can have fixed or rotatable holes, be threaded or un-threaded so long as it has at least a 1.5" nipple. Any suggestions?

I have, unfortunately new stuff is expensive.

My goal is to build this new chamber (including mechanical roughing and turbo pumps) for under $500.00. This is one of the final pieces needed to complete this experimental setup, and I am nearly at the end of my budget.

1. What is a high vacuum 8" conflat?

A high vacuum 8" conflat is a type of flange used in vacuum systems to connect two components together, creating a sealed chamber for conducting experiments or processes under high vacuum conditions.

2. Why do I need a high vacuum 8" conflat?

A high vacuum 8" conflat is essential for creating a sealed chamber that can sustain high levels of vacuum, allowing for precise control of experimental conditions and preventing contamination from outside air or particles.

3. How do I choose the right high vacuum 8" conflat?

The right high vacuum 8" conflat will depend on your specific experimental needs and the compatibility with your vacuum system. Factors to consider include material, size, and flange type. It is important to consult with a specialist to determine the best option for your application.

4. Where can I find a high vacuum 8" conflat?

High vacuum 8" conflat flanges can be purchased from scientific equipment suppliers, such as vacuum technology companies or scientific instrument manufacturers. Online marketplaces and auctions may also have options available.

5. How do I properly maintain a high vacuum 8" conflat?

A high vacuum 8" conflat should be cleaned regularly with appropriate solvents to remove any contaminants. It is important to regularly check for any signs of wear or damage, and to replace the flange if necessary. Proper storage and handling is also crucial to maintaining the integrity of the conflat.
