Name For (Limit) Points In An Electric Field Plot ....

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on identifying the traditional name for points in an electric field plot where the fields from multiple point charges converge and create right-angled turns. Specifically, the scenario involves four point charges, both positive and negative, in free space. Participants emphasize the need for visual aids, such as diagrams, to clarify the points in question. The inquiry highlights the importance of terminology in understanding electric field interactions.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of electric fields and point charges
  • Familiarity with vector field representations
  • Knowledge of electrostatics principles
  • Ability to interpret graphical representations of electric fields
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the concept of equipotential surfaces in electrostatics
  • Learn about the superposition principle in electric fields
  • Explore the mathematical representation of electric fields from point charges
  • Investigate the role of field lines in visualizing electric fields
USEFUL FOR

Students studying electrostatics, physics educators, and anyone interested in the graphical representation of electric fields and their properties.

Homework Statement

I'm looking at an electric field plot around four (4) + and - point charges in free space.
There are several points where the electric fields come together and make right-angled turns (in the limit). Is there a name for these points? Especially is there a traditional name for these points? Thanks for reading.

Can you post a picture or drawing? Or a link to a source of such a diagram? That would help a lot.
