Need help in controlling the speed of DC Motor ?

AI Thread Summary
To control the speed of a DC motor in four quadrant operation without using a microcontroller or PLC, PWM via an H-bridge can be employed. The project aims to set the motor speed based on keyboard input, although the feasibility of reading a keyboard without a computer is questioned. An alternative approach discussed involves using a DC generator attached to the motor shaft to calibrate output voltage against speed. Calibration is necessary, and while using a microcontroller could simplify the process, the challenge is to find a solution without it. Ultimately, the goal is to establish a reliable method to fix the motor speed.

Need help in controlling the speed of DC Motor ??

Can anyone of genius mind here tell me how to control the speed of dc motor in four quadrant operation automatically without using microcontroller or PLC ??
I Want to do a mini-project where i want to setup a speed from a keyboard input so that motor will rotate in that speed ??

You would use PWM of the drive voltage via an H-bridge set of switch transistors to control the DC motor. Why don't you want to use a uC to control the PWM waveforms? You will need to do some calibration of PWM --> speed anyway, so using a uC will let you put that table in its memory...

actually its a challenge from my friend. They want me to do such things.Initally i thought to use a dc generator with the shaft of the motor and calibrate the output voltage with speed.output of this generator is converted to digital and comapre with desired speed.but don't how to implement it.So if you can guide me there,i ll feel relax

i wanted to see how you read a keyboard without a computer...

Yah..its impossible but forget the keyboard interface.Lets tale an volume adjusting type regulator.Just i want to fix a speed by anymeans

Thread 'Weird near-field phenomenon I get in my EM simulation'
I recently made a basic simulation of wire antennas and I am not sure if the near field in my simulation is modeled correctly. One of the things that worry me is the fact that sometimes I see in my simulation "movements" in the near field that seems to be faster than the speed of wave propagation I defined (the speed of light in the simulation). Specifically I see "nodes" of low amplitude in the E field that are quickly "emitted" from the antenna and then slow down as they approach the far...
Hello dear reader, a brief introduction: Some 4 years ago someone started developing health related issues, apparently due to exposure to RF & ELF related frequencies and/or fields (Magnetic). This is currently becoming known as EHS. (Electromagnetic hypersensitivity is a claimed sensitivity to electromagnetic fields, to which adverse symptoms are attributed.) She experiences a deep burning sensation throughout her entire body, leaving her in pain and exhausted after a pulse has occurred...
