For a school project, i have to research production of Tylenol and Advil - but i can't find ANYTHING!

- What reactions are involved when producing acetaminophen and ibuprofen?

Tylenol is a commercial drug, which has the main ingredient, acetaminophen aka paracetamol. Ibuprofen is, 2-(p-isobutylphenyl)propionic acid. I found the data on this website. Advil is the second commercial drug, with ibuprofen in it as the main ingredient.

So you are looking a way for their synthesis, right?
 
Actually, i found out that acetaminophen is the synthesis of acetic anhydride and p-aminophenol. But I'm not sure how ibuprofen can be synthesized. Any ideas?
 
I have found this, a Friedel-Crafts reaction with acetyl chloride on alkyl benzene at 4-position, then a mystery-two-step reaction for a keto group to convert it into an aldehyde, preparation of an oxime from it, and synthesis of a nitrile from this one was used. The nitrile is hydrolyzed to give the desired product, the carboxylic acid. This is a cue for you, although this is not a cue anymore :wink:
 
It seems like a simple enough question: what is the solubility of epsom salt in water at 20°C? A graph or table showing how it varies with temperature would be a bonus. But upon searching the internet I have been unable to determine this with confidence. Wikipedia gives the value of 113g/100ml. But other sources disagree and I can't find a definitive source for the information. I even asked chatgpt but it couldn't be sure either. I thought, naively, that this would be easy to look up without...
I was introduced to the Octet Rule recently and make me wonder, why does 8 valence electrons or a full p orbital always make an element inert? What is so special with a full p orbital? Like take Calcium for an example, its outer orbital is filled but its only the s orbital thats filled so its still reactive not so much as the Alkaline metals but still pretty reactive. Can someone explain it to me? Thanks!!
