AI Thread Summary
Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.6 on Windows 98 may display a message indicating it is already running when attempting to get updates, even if no manual update process has been initiated. This issue could stem from the Auto Update feature being enabled, which automatically runs at startup, causing conflicts on some systems. Users can check if the antivirus is up to date by reviewing the date of the virus definitions during a scan. Disabling the Auto Update feature and restarting the computer may resolve the issue, allowing manual updates to be performed successfully. Differences in behavior between computers may be due to varying settings or configurations within Norton.

I just installed Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.6 on win 98, but when I go to get the updates, it says it's already running. Can anybody help me with this problem? Why is it already running when I haven't done anything yet... and it won't get the updates. It scans ok, but no updates. Help!

I think when norton starts it enables auto update option which allways loads at startup .

it doesn't do that in my other computer and it never stops running. how do I know if it's up to date?

When it scans, it tells you the date of the virus defintions.

why would norton antivirus automatically run updates in one computer and not the other? I have always opened norton and clicked on get updates and downloaded them before scanning. the other computer says it is already running live update and it never stops running.

Try disabeling the Auto Update feature, and then restart your computer and try.
Just an idea.

I have an MS 365 subscription and I've noticed on my Word documents the small circle with my initials in it is sometimes different in colour document to document (it's the circle at the top right of the doc, that, when you hover over it it tells you you're signed in; if you click on it you get a bit more info). Last night I had four docs with a red circle, one with blue. When I closed the blue and opened it again it was red. Today I have 3...

(I had problems with copy/paste of text and formatting, so I'm posting my examples as screen shots. That is a promising start. But then I provided values V=1, R1=1, R2=2, R3=3 and asked for the value of I. At first, it said...
