This one was special. For my 3rd guess, my program suggested TWANG or WIGHT which wouldn't have been that helpful.

I didn't think a word that could be a verb (DOING GOING OWING) was high on a list of words most likely to be chosen by a human. I didn't expect JOINT either, as it is also slang for a drug-related object.

Yeah. Seems like I'm regressing here. Maybe someone put something in my food. Maybe I ran out of luck. Maybe I'm really a 1. generation AI masquerading as a human. Or just maybe my true colors are beginning to show and I'm revealed to be a fake nerd with no education and no skills. I mean not every day can be a "bad day"!

Perhaps I shouldn't (smoke joints and) use public computers before breakfast. Nah, don't unpack that.

I agree and feel your pain. I had to go to the extended list of 12972 words.

Yes, pretty good considering that you had 13 candidates left after the second guess.

This is a case where taking previous solutions into account would have guaranteed you a solution in 4.
After the second guess, there are 5 possible solutions left, but BARGE, FARCE, and LARGE have already been used, leaving only PARSE and CARVE.

After sticking with the same seed word for about two years, I changed it recently to take previous solutions into account when considering most probable letters. My second word today was a choice between two candidates and guaranteed a solution in 3.

I am sticking with my seed until I get a 1. Just imagine changing your long-term seed just for it to appear as the solution a week later …. So I am sticking with it even if it is not optimal.

Ah, yes. I already got a 1 with the first seed and my new seed is already on the "used" list. I am content with one 1. My goal is a low mean and a low variance in my score distribution.

This is why I use semi-random seeds. I have a few favorites but I often just grab out of thin air. Years ago I played the same lottery number over & over, and I felt trapped.

According to my methodology of ranking seed words, yours comes in 2nd, behind SANER. But going through my 'seed history' vs 'average score', it ranks #18 when I've used it. Even odder than that, is the fact that BLARE was my best scoring seed*. Unfortunately it was the solution for the July 9th game, so I can't test it any more.

*For words used 5 or more times as a seed.

I could have been stuck getting it in 6 by choosing one of the possible answers instead of a guaranteed 5 by using the recommended filter word DOGMA.

I chose GUSTY because of the winds in Florida that are everywhere on the news but I had doubts because it could be seen as bad taste for the same reason. Is it still luck or am I getting closer to mind-reading?
