Interesting game. I actually noticed OZONE already in the list of 27 words remaining after the seed. It was such a bad filter, but one of the more appealing words to enter as a solution. After the best filter (BULGE) returned 5 words (EMCEE, PENCE, TEPEE, FEMME, and OZONE) I decided to yolo it with OZONE on guess 3 - even if it was still the absolutely worst filter among the five. Missing and the result being EMCEE, TEPEE, or FEMME would have put me in serious jeopardy of getting the first 5 since the sheet, but I considered those quite unlikely. And lo and behold!

Even if neither were the best filter, the choice for the second guess was between NIECE and GENIE. Both reasonable solutions and the degeneracies they would leave did not seem very likely. Of course, I should have gone with GENIE instead of NIECE…
