AI Thread Summary
TV cameras, including inexpensive camcorders, are equipped with autofocus technology, allowing them to automatically adjust focus on subjects. In contrast, U.S. tanks do not possess an alarm system to detect targeting by passive infrared (IR) systems, as passive IR operates by detecting low-frequency light and does not emit signals that can be tracked. Consequently, there is no method to ascertain if a tank is being targeted by a passive IR system. Active IR systems may have different characteristics, but the discussion leans toward the conclusion that detection capabilities for passive IR targeting are absent. For further information on military technology, resources such as globalsecurity.org and fas.org are recommended.

do TV cameras have autofocus?

and, do USA tanks have some alarm system telling them if they are been targeted with an IR system?

Hmmm... well, there is no way to tell if you are being targetted with a passive IR system. Active IR, I don't know, but I would guess probably not.

These sites are excellent sources of military/technological info; let me know if you can find anything there:

Yes, tv cameras have autofocus (just like the cheap camcorders do).

No, since IR is completely passive, there is no way to tell if you have someone tracking you. Remember, IR is just low frequency light. You can't tell if someone is looking at you.

This week, I saw a documentary done by the French called Les sacrifiés de l'IA, which was presented by a Canadian show Enquête. If you understand French I recommend it. Very eye-opening. I found a similar documentary in English called The Human Cost of AI: Data workers in the Global South. There is also an interview with Milagros Miceli (appearing in both documentaries) on Youtube: I also found a powerpoint presentation by the economist Uma Rani (appearing in the French documentary), AI...
Thread 'Urgent: Physically repair - or bypass - power button on Asus laptop'
Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
