Zener breakdown allows reverse current to flow through a Zener diode, which is often used for voltage regulation. It is possible to power devices using this reverse current, provided the Zener diode is rated to handle the power dissipation without damage. The discussion emphasizes the importance of ensuring the Zener diode's power rating is sufficient for the application. Clarification is sought on whether the inquiry pertains specifically to Zener diodes or another type of semiconductor device. Proper understanding of the circuit configuration is crucial to avoid potential damage to appliances.

Can I power things even after Zener breakdown?
I understand that Zener Breakdown occurs when the reverse current starts flowing in the junction because of which depletion region entirely vanishes. Can I power things using this reverse current ? Or will it damage the appliance?

Can you be more detailed in what you are asking, and post some schematics?

Zener diodes are usually used in shunt configurations, to provide crude voltage regulation. You can use them in series with a load if you want to drop some voltage (the Zener voltage) between your voltage source and the load. Your Zener diode needs to have a power rating sufficient to handle the ##I_s V_z## (series current * Zener voltage) power dissipation, of course.

I am referring to reverse current in zener breakdown. I am referring to this part.

Of course. That's how a Zener diode works.

Image link is not working for me. Maybe just paste in the image into a reply? (You'll need to be sure the little Edit icons are not red, but clicking the "[ ]" toggle BB icon if needed)

Or are you not referring to a Zener diode, and are referring to some other semiconductor device?

If have close pipe system with water inside pressurized at P1= 200 000Pa absolute, density 1000kg/m3, wider pipe diameter=2cm, contraction pipe diameter=1.49cm, that is contraction area ratio A1/A2=1.8 a) If water is stationary(pump OFF) and if I drill a hole anywhere at pipe, water will leak out, because pressure(200kPa) inside is higher than atmospheric pressure (101 325Pa). b)If I turn on pump and water start flowing with with v1=10m/s in A1 wider section, from Bernoulli equation I...
