Ok jordanhuh I guess you have a stick of mass m that you are holding up at an angle theta and it is hinged at the base and you release it and it falls to the ground. Right? So what do you want to know about it, that is, what is the question?

Have you made an attempt at a solution? Are you sure the problem is asking for the time? With non uniform speed and non constant acceleration tangentially , angularly and centripetally, and small angle for theta with vertical, the problem is not easily solved .
 
Kindly see the attached pdf. My attempt to solve it, is in it. I'm wondering if my solution is right. My idea is this: At any point of time, the ball may be assumed to be at an incline which is at an angle of θ(kindly see both the pics in the pdf file). The value of θ will continuously change and so will the value of friction. I'm not able to figure out, why my solution is wrong, if it is wrong .
