Gas volume at 20°C to 130°C - Need formula

AI Thread Summary
To determine the volume of a gas at different temperatures while keeping pressure constant, Charles's Law is applicable. The formula V/T = V1/T1 allows for the calculation of the new volume based on initial conditions. The user initially struggled to find the formula but successfully researched it after receiving guidance. The problem involves a gas volume of 1.2 liters at 20°C, which can be calculated for 130°C using the law. Understanding and applying Charles's Law is essential for solving this type of gas volume problem.

1. Homework Statement

A gas occupies a volume of 1.2litres at 20°c. Determine the volume it occupies at 130°C if the pressure is kept constant.

I tried to look for the formula but i cannot find it. i am in college and we have not been taught this yet... someone help by telling me the formula.

Thanks you

You need Charles's law. Google it.

I tried to google it I've been tryin to solve this problem and another one for over 5 days.. please help

What does Charle's Law state?

Don't worry I've solved it, thanks a lot for the heads up.. i researched charles law and found the formula:

V/T = V1/T1

Starting with the mass considerations #m(t)# is mass of water #M_{c}# mass of container and #M(t)# mass of total system $$M(t) = M_{C} + m(t)$$ $$\Rightarrow \frac{dM(t)}{dt} = \frac{dm(t)}{dt}$$ $$P_i = Mv + u \, dm$$ $$P_f = (M + dm)(v + dv)$$ $$\Delta P = M \, dv + (v - u) \, dm$$ $$F = \frac{dP}{dt} = M \frac{dv}{dt} + (v - u) \frac{dm}{dt}$$ $$F = u \frac{dm}{dt} = \rho A u^2$$ from conservation of momentum , the cannon recoils with the same force which it applies. $$\quad \frac{dm}{dt}...
