AI Thread Summary
To dissect a Seagate ST31276A spindle motor, it is suggested to use a probe, like a screw, to apply pressure underneath the spindle while striking the assembly against a hard surface to release it from the chassis. This method allows access to the motor components, including coils and magnets. The spindle is press-fitted, making careful disassembly necessary to avoid damage. If further assistance is needed, additional clarification can be provided. Proper technique is crucial for successful disassembly.

How to dissect a hdd (seagate Mod. ST31276A) spindle motor "Sankey"?

I have a spindle motor of seagate( Mod. ST31276A about 6 GB) It motor is "sankey" made in Japan . I wonder how to disassemble it(to see the coils, magnet, halls, etc). If some people can help me ..I will appreciate a lot.
Thanks.

what size HD was it from?

The spindle is press-fitted into the chassis.

Get something you can use as a probe (just use a screw or something), hold it underneath the spindle, and smack the whole lot down onto a hard surface. The spindle should pop out of its location in the HDD chassis, then you'll be able to see the motor.

If this isn't what you're after, let us know.

Hi all, I have a question. So from the derivation of the Isentropic process relationship PV^gamma = constant, there is a step dW = PdV, which can only be said for quasi-equilibrium (or reversible) processes. As such I believe PV^gamma = constant (and the family of equations) should not be applicable to just adiabatic processes? Ie, it should be applicable only for adiabatic + reversible = isentropic processes? However, I've seen couple of online notes/books, and...
Thread 'How can I find the cleanout for my building drain?'
I am a long distance truck driver, but I recently completed a plumbing program with Stratford Career Institute. In the chapter of my textbook Repairing DWV Systems, the author says that if there is a clog in the building drain, one can clear out the clog by using a snake augur or maybe some other type of tool into the cleanout for the building drain. The author said that the cleanout for the building drain is usually near the stack. I live in a duplex townhouse. Just out of curiosity, I...
