Is the Momentum Calculation for the Circus Animals Accurate?

AI Thread Summary
The momentum of the monkey and scooter is calculated to be 224 kg·m/s, while the chimpanzee on roller skates has a momentum of 66 kg·m/s. The ratio of the monkey's momentum to the chimpanzee's momentum is approximately 3.40. This indicates that the monkey and scooter's momentum is over three times greater than that of the chimpanzee and skates. The calculations appear accurate and confirm the initial assessment.

At a circus animal training facility, a monkey rides a miniature motorscooter at a speed of 7.0 m/s. The monkey and scooter together have a mass of 32 kg. Meanwhile, a chimpanzee on roller skates with a total mass of 44 kg moves at a speed of 1.5 meters per second. The magnitude of the momentum of the monkey plus scooter is how many times the magnitude of the momentum of the chimpanzee plus skates?

Monkey/scooter=P=(32 kg)(7.0 m/s)=224

Chimp/rollers= (44kg)(1.5 m/s)= 66

=224/66=3.40

Looks good to me.

TL;DR Summary: I came across this question from a Sri Lankan A-level textbook. Question - An ice cube with a length of 10 cm is immersed in water at 0 °C. An observer observes the ice cube from the water, and it seems to be 7.75 cm long. If the refractive index of water is 4/3, find the height of the ice cube immersed in the water. I could not understand how the apparent height of the ice cube in the water depends on the height of the ice cube immersed in the water. Does anyone have an...
Kindly see the attached pdf. My attempt to solve it, is in it. I'm wondering if my solution is right. My idea is this: At any point of time, the ball may be assumed to be at an incline which is at an angle of θ(kindly see both the pics in the pdf file). The value of θ will continuously change and so will the value of friction. I'm not able to figure out, why my solution is wrong, if it is wrong .
