AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the inquiry about pH testers specifically designed for measuring the pH of solids, with a focus on an application involving dental health and caries detection. Participants clarify that measuring pH directly in solids is not feasible; instead, pH measurements are relevant for aqueous solutions that interact with the solid. The original poster seeks recommendations for purchasing a pH tester suitable for their project, but the conversation highlights the misunderstanding of measuring pH in solids versus solutions.

Hello everyone,

First of all thank you for your help.

I'd like to know if there are any ph testers for solids not diluted and where can I buy them and how much would they cost.

Thanks!

What does the pH of a solid mean? A measure of the pH only makes sense for an aqueous solution.

I'm studying a project in which we are trying to measure the ph of a tooth in order to detect a carie. That's why we'd like to get a ph tester for solids

Ok, so you're not measuring the pH of a solid, but the pH of a solution coating the solid.

I can't help you further, but hopefully some others can.

I want to test a humidity sensor with one or more saturated salt solutions. The table salt that I have on hand contains one of two anticaking agents, calcium silicate or sodium aluminosilicate. Will the presence of either of these additives (or iodine for that matter) significantly affect the equilibrium humidity? I searched and all the how-to-do-it guides did not address this question. One research paper I found reported that at 1.5% w/w calcium silicate increased the deliquescent point by...
