Physics Pressure ranking pressures?

AI Thread Summary
In the discussion about ranking pressure points based on density, it is established that pressure is calculated using the formula pressure = rho x g x height. The initial assumption was that points 1 and 2, located on a horizontal line, would have equal pressure, while point 3 would have greater pressure due to higher density in the green region. However, it is clarified that if the density of the fluid in the green region is greater than that in the blue region, the pressure at the same height will indeed differ. Therefore, the correct ranking of pressures must consider the density variations. Understanding these principles is crucial for accurately determining pressure in fluid mechanics.

Homework Statement

assuming points 1 and 2 are on the horizontal line, and the green portion has a greater density than blue rank the pressure points??

Homework Equations

pressure = rho x g x height

The Attempt at a Solution

i was thinking 3> (1=2)

You need to think about this again.

If the density of the fluid in the green region, differs from the blue region, then the pressure at the same height beneath the surface will be different.

Thread 'Collision of a bullet on a rod-string system: query'
In this question, I have a question. I am NOT trying to solve it, but it is just a conceptual question. Consider the point on the rod, which connects the string and the rod. My question: just before and after the collision, is ANGULAR momentum CONSERVED about this point? Lets call the point which connects the string and rod as P. Why am I asking this? : it is clear from the scenario that the point of concern, which connects the string and the rod, moves in a circular path due to the string...
