Study Materials for Solid state physics

AI Thread Summary
The discussion highlights a need for study materials specifically focused on solid state physics, as the original poster has found resources for classical and quantum mechanics but not for solid state physics. Key recommendations include "Solid State Physics" by Ashcroft and Mermin, which is noted for its use in introductory courses, and "Introduction to Solid State Physics" by Kittel, which is frequently suggested despite mixed reviews on its clarity. Additional resources mentioned are "Ibach & Luth" and "Christman," with an emphasis that these texts cover extensive material suitable for two semesters of study.

I have found plenty of study materials, notes and links on Classical Mechanics and Quantum Mechanics. However I could not found any forum on this site that provides study materials of solid state physics. So please if you have got the link, please post it in here.

Ashcroft, Mermin - Solid State Physics
We referred mainly to (the 1st half of) this book for our intro CMP course.

Kittel - Introduction to Solid State Physics
Lots of people suggest this one, though I found only certain parts well explained.

Others include Ibach & Luth and Christman.
All these books contain two semesters worth of material.

Hi, I have notice that Ashcroft, Mermin and Wei worked at a revised edition of the original solid state physics book (here). The book, however, seems to be never available. I have also read that the reason is related to some disputes related to copyright. Do you have any further information about it? Did you have the opportunity to get your hands on this revised edition? I am really curious about it, also considering that I am planning to buy the book in the near future... Thanks!
This is part 2 of my thread Collection of Free Online Math Books and Lecture Notes Here, we will consider physics and mathematical methods for physics resources. Now, this is a work in progress. Please feel free comment regarding items you want to be included, or if a link is broken etc. Note: I will not post links to other collections, each link will point you to a single item. :book:📚📒 [FONT=trebuchet ms]Introductory college/university physics College Physics, Openstax...
