AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on synthesizing a specific ferrocene-based macrocycle from ferrocene and other reagents available from Aldrich. The original poster seeks guidance on the correct molar equivalents for the reagents needed in the synthesis. A suggestion is made to utilize Scifinder, a comprehensive research tool that provides extensive chemical information and synthetic routes, emphasizing its value as a resource for academic institutions. The importance of leveraging such databases for accurate and efficient synthesis planning is highlighted.

I've been asked to synthesise this ferrocene based macrocycle (shown in picture below) starting from ferrocene and other available materials from Aldrich. I need to make sure molar equivalents are spot on with reagents. Can anyone help please?

I need to give a synthetic route starting from ferrocene to get to that compound in the picture

Your school probably pays in excess of 6 figures per year for Scifinder...In other words you really are through tuition. Try it out at your library. It can do almost everything for you. It is a mind blowing collection of knowledge that has been amassed by mankind that can be searched through with SF.

I want to test a humidity sensor with one or more saturated salt solutions. The table salt that I have on hand contains one of two anticaking agents, calcium silicate or sodium aluminosilicate. Will the presence of either of these additives (or iodine for that matter) significantly affect the equilibrium humidity? I searched and all the how-to-do-it guides did not address this question. One research paper I found reported that at 1.5% w/w calcium silicate increased the deliquescent point by...
