AI Thread Summary
For simple video editing software that includes text effects similar to those seen on television, options vary based on the operating system. Windows users can consider Windows Movie Maker, though it has limitations with export formats. For more advanced features, purchasing software like Final Cut Pro or Adobe's prosumer applications may be necessary. Linux users have several free options, including Kino, MainActor, Lives, and Cinelerra, which cater to different skill levels. Mac users can utilize iMovie for basic editing needs. QuickTime Pro is also mentioned as a viable option for editing and exporting videos, although its text and transition capabilities are uncertain. Overall, while basic tools exist, more advanced editing often requires investment in higher-end software.

Try Final Cut or something.

What OS are you using?

Iam Using Windows XP.
I want something to include text in video and animate it !
Not just cut and paste !

And you don't have Windows Movie Maker? Try that. If not, you're going to have to buy new software.

Then, head to Best Buy and choose the one you like.

I think Windows has basic video editing though, right? OS X has iMovie, even Linux has video editing software.

Linux ?

Hey Thanx a lot man.
I will take that.
Will reply after trying it.
Thanx

if you have a mac, iMovie will do it

also, I have not used it, but QT pro costs 30 bucks and can edit movies from camcorders and export to a ton of formats...I don't know about adding transitions or text, but I am sure you can since it is a major media authoring tool...otherwise, I would say that for windows and not getting QT pro, the consumer grade video software kinda sucks, and dvLinux is not really usable yet... you might have to pay 200 or so for a prosumer application from adobe.

BTW...stay away from movie maker...the export formats really stink.

final cut pro can animate the text

what do you think all those studios use :-)
