B The Brachistochrone Curve - Which theories apply?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around the Brachistochrone curve, with a focus on the theories related to gravitational acceleration that govern its behavior. The original poster seeks clarification on the theoretical aspects of the curve for a physics exam and report. Participants emphasize the importance of specific questions and suggest that the poster review available materials for diagrams and detailed explanations. There is also a prompt for the poster to share their current understanding and mathematical background to facilitate more targeted assistance. Overall, the conversation highlights the need for clear communication and understanding of foundational concepts in physics.

Hello,
I am doing a physics exam, where I have chosen to create a Brachistochrone curve, and perform various tests on it.
Furthermore, I also have to write a physics report, containing the theory behind the curve, but I am not 100% sure what some of the theories behind the curve are. I suppose it would apply to gravitational acceleration, since it is only affected by that force. But could anyone maybe explain to me just a bit more about the theory behind this curve? Thank you!

Don't worry, I have been looking on the internet!
But I am not a native English speaker, so a lot of the things I have been able to find has been somewhat hard for me to understand..
So I thought it would be easier to ask in here.

There must be a lot of available material with diagrams and which took hours to put together, so it's impossible for anyone here to do better than that. What we can do is answer specific questions about something you don't understand.

Where havve you got to in your project? Do you understand the problem? The idea behind the solution? What level of mathematics do you know?

I think it's easist first to watch a short vidio clip I find these videos very relaxing to watch .. I got to thinking is this being done in the most efficient way? The sand has to be suspended in the water to move it to the outlet ... The faster the water , the more turbulance and the sand stays suspended, so it seems to me the rule of thumb is the hose be aimed towards the outlet at all times .. Many times the workers hit the sand directly which will greatly reduce the water...
