The Unintelligent Design Theory: Proving the Designer's Existence

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the concept of an "Unintelligent Designer" theory, which posits that the placement of the Sun and the arrangement of atoms in the universe suggest intentional design. The argument extends to human thoughts, asserting that since many thoughts are trivial or unintelligent, the Designer responsible for them must also be unintelligent. The thread emphasizes that this Designer is not perfect, contrasting with Deism, which posits a perfect being. An example provided is the occurrence of supernovae, which are seen as mistakes made by the Designer in holding atoms together. The conversation is framed humorously, with a playful warning against debunking the theory.

Unintelligent Design theory

Take a look at the Sun (with proper darkened glasses of course). Have you ever wondered why is it there? In fact there are so many other places it could be (other galaxies, etc.) that it is quite improbable it is there. Therefore someone, let's call him the Designer, has put it where it is.

The same is valid even in greater amount for the atoms. They have much more places to be instead of the place they currently are. But there are much more states when the atoms of someone's body are placed all over the universe instead being in such small volume. I even can't start calculating the odds, so small they are. So, the conclusion is that the Designer made us.

Now let's think about our thoughts. There are so many other thoughts that can pass trough your head instead the current thought. You may think about Beyonce instead. Or chocolate ice-cream. You name it. So, the same conclusion is inescapable, someone has to be placing the thoughts in our heads - the Designer.

Now, we know that most of our thoughts are quite unintelligent. There are some intelligent, but general amount of them are not. Therefore the Designer that produces the thoughts has to be quite unintelligent.

Therefore the Unintelligent Designer exists.

Oh, no, no, no... Deism is about existence of a perfect being. The UD is not perfect.

Edit: Example, when the Unintelligent Designer makes a mistake to hold the atoms of a star together, we call the event "supernova". It is obvious that the atoms of the stars tend to arange themselves in more believable state...

Similar to the 2024 thread, here I start the 2025 thread. As always it is getting increasingly difficult to predict, so I will make a list based on other article predictions. You can also leave your prediction here. Here are the predictions of 2024 that did not make it: Peter Shor, David Deutsch and all the rest of the quantum computing community (various sources) Pablo Jarrillo Herrero, Allan McDonald and Rafi Bistritzer for magic angle in twisted graphene (various sources) Christoph...
Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
