Q. Given f(x)=2(x^2)-4 , determine the new equation g(x) after a vertical compression by a factor of 1/2.
The answer provided by the book is g(X) = (x^2)-2, but shouldn't it be g(x) = (x^2)-4 ?
Help will be much appreciated.

Adam
Hi! Can anyone please tell me where this equation was derived from?
This equation is used to get the magnetic field (B).
I is current and r is the distance. And I think I understand the Meu. And yet I have no idea where the 2pi came from. I looked in my textbook, internet and asked friends...
Q. If a person received a 10% salary increase each year and earned a total of $155680.05 by the beginning of the 5th year, determine the starting salary.
Well, the wording is confusing me.
It tells me to get the total by the BEGINNING of the 5th year, so is it asking for the money earned...

Q. y= f(-x-4)
Hi, I was wondering why I must factor out -1 to make the function y=(-1(x+4)).
I tried to look in the texbook but it doesn't say why I have to do it that way..
Also when transforming a fuction, why should I do it from left to right?
y=a(f(x-b))+d
Isn't it more logical to...

I should I get the intersecting points of the two graphs? Should I just use the calculator? Or is there another way around it?
Hi, this should be the last question for today :lol:
Determine the number of solutions for the following system:
y = -4log_{12} (x)
y = 4 sin(x)
Is there a way to do this without using a graphing calculator? Thank you very much!
