Graduate Parity of photon in nuclear transitions
@bcrowell, sorry, I actually meant parity, not polarity. I'll edit the post. I've gone long without sleeping... In my example, what is the parity of the photon and why? I don't know what those M and E's stand for.. EDIT: I think I understand it now. the parity, in my example, is positive. I was...- Yaste

Graduate Parity of photon in nuclear transitions
Let's say we have a transition from ##J^P = \dfrac{1}{2}^+## to something like ##J^P = \dfrac{5}{2}^+##. It radiates a photon with some energy ##E_\gamma##. How does one know the parity of said photon? How does conservation of parity work here?- Yaste

Programs Master's Degree in Computational Mechanics: Industry Jobs & Options
Hello ZapperZ, thank you for replying. I am an european student, currently in Portugal and I plan to either stay here or go elsewhere while remaning in europe. The reason for seeking a masters degree is that, adding to the fact that, nowadays, a bachelors is pretty much not enough, my thirst...- Yaste

Programs Master's Degree in Computational Mechanics: Industry Jobs & Options
Computational Mechanics is considered engineering, as it is taught in an engineering campus. I then have "Industrial engineering" and "micro/nano technologies". I'm not sure what the prospects for each would be..- Yaste

Programs Master's Degree in Computational Mechanics: Industry Jobs & Options
Hey. I'll be finishing my bachelors (in Physics) in a month or so and it's about time to start thinking about a master's degree. I'm not very motivated to go pure Physics. I'm more inclined for something like "Computational Mechanics". Now, in this time and age it would be stupid of me to get...- Yaste

Selecting Every 37th Row in LibreOffice Using OFFSET Function
I'm trying to use the OFFSET function in libreoffice to copy every 37th row in a given column but I am unable to do it. I've lost the last 3 hours searching all over the internet and the given answers don't seem to work on my libre-office! I'm seriously getting pissed here. So, let's say I have...- Yaste

Hyperfine Structure of $^133Cs$: Find I & J
Homework Statement A transition happens for ##\lambda = 494nm## in the Cesium ions (##^133 Cs##) between a term in the ##5p^5 6s## configuration and term in the ##5p^5 6p## configuration. Five components are observed with the following energies (relative to the transition of least energy): 0...- Yaste

Drawing the Zeeman Spectrum in Magnesium
Homework Statement A zeeman experience is made in the transition 3s4s ## ^3S_1## -> 3s3p ##^3P_2## in Magnesium with a magnetic field of 2Teslas (20 000 Gauss). With no magnetic field the emission occurs in 518.360nm. a) Draw the spectrum of what you hoped you observe when you're watching the...- Yaste
