Looking for some software for volume control

AI Thread Summary
To increase the volume of sounds in music, Audacity is recommended as an effective software solution. Users can import their music tracks, select the entire track, and apply the Amplify effect to enhance the volume. However, caution is advised as amplifying the signal also raises any background noise present in the track. Over-amplification can lead to clipping, which further introduces unwanted noise.

Just like in the title, I'm looking for some software to make sounds in music much louder. I have a few nice sounds, but they're too low, even when I manipulate the volume in speakers it gets tiny louder but still low, is there any software that let's me do such thing?

Thanks

You can use this program:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Import your music into the program, select the whole track with CTRL+A and then go to Effect->Amplify

Be aware that when you amplify the the signal you are also amplifying any inherent noise. Also, if you amplify too much you'll have to clip the signal which will introduce even more noise.

We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
