That's called selective hearing. A friend of mines dad went to the Dr who referred him to a hearing specialist and he said his years of working in high noise environments have probably damaged the range of hearing around the high pitched voice area. He said you're going to have to write that down as my wife is never going to believe it!yeah.. I definitely get a touch of that. Nothing disabling, but definitely I just want to go somewhere, and take a nap... or turn bright lights on. This is a problem because my spouse likes it dim.
Come to think of it, he also has poor hearing (like all spouses). That might be a bad thing regarding my misophonia... which also seems to be partly a result of very good hearing.
