Engineering Electronics textbook recommendations to self-learn

Click For Summary
The discussion centers around an individual starting an internship at Lockheed Martin, focusing on resolving issues with hydrophones and transducers. Seeking recommendations for textbooks to enhance their understanding of electronics, the intern expresses confidence in their self-learning abilities despite having less electronic experience compared to peers in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Participants recommend "The Art of Electronics" by Horowitz and Hill as a valuable resource, along with suggesting the Floyd series and "Microelectronics" by Sedra and Smith for further study. The conversation emphasizes the importance of solid foundational knowledge in electronics for success in the internship.

Hi all,

I am starting an internship with Lockheed Martin on Tuesday, May 26. I have just been notified of my duties, which will involve resolving issues with hydrophones/transducers. I am looking for recommendations of good textbooks that I could refer to during this internship. I am a rising senior in the Aerospace Engineering program at Virginia Tech, as an AE student I have less electronic experience than students in ME or EE (obviously). I am, however, very confident in my ability to self-learn and I really want to perform this summer as Lockheed Martin is a dream company for me. Thanks in advance for any and all recommendations.

Welcome to the PF, and congrats on the Internship!

This is one of my favorite intro to electronics books -- if you have a technical library near you, you can take a look at it before you decide to buy it:

"The Art of Electronics" by Horowitz and Hill https://www.amazon.com/dp/0521809266/?tag=pfamazon01-20

Thank you! I will definitely check it out.

I'd checkout the series by Floyd as well as microelectronics by sedra and smith.

Im currently reading mathematics for physicists by Philippe Dennery and André Krzywicki, and I’m understanding most concepts however I think it would be better for me to get a book on complex analysis or calculus to better understand it so I’m not left looking at an equation for an hour trying to figure out what it means. So here comes the split, do I get a complex analysis book? Or a calculus book? I might be able to Borrow a calculus textbook from my math teacher study that for a bit and...
