How to identify the ratio of the cross sectio of capture and recombination

  1. Sep 9, 2006 #1
Sometimes we need to know the ratio of the capture section and recocmbination cross section of the electron or hole. for example, to identify the mechanism of phosphors, it's very important to know the ratio to analyze the process of luminescence. The question is how we identify the ratio, from the experiments or from the calculation? By the way, whether the ratio of the concentration of one kind of impurity (which functions as trap) and another kind of impurity(which is to serve as another impurity level for the recombination of electrons and holes) decides the ratio of these two cross section, thank you!
