The question states the diameter, all you need is the length (which is implied in the problem description)

v = pi * r^2 * h
= (3.140) * (3^2) * (8)
= 226 cubic inches in each stroke

Total = 226 cubic inches x 200 strokes = 45,200 cubic inches

convert cubic inches to gallons ; 1 gallon = 231 cubic inches

45,200 cubic inches
------------------
231 cubic inches

= 196 gallons

It looks right to me, with the minor edit that it's 196 gals. per minute. Anyone else care to comment?

Correct, provided 200 is the no.of discharge strokes per minute, otherwise half the flowrate.
