Elon Musk has weighed in on reports Amazon is addressing recent outages, including one related to AI-assisted coding.

The e-commerce giant held a mandatory meeting on Tuesday for a “deep dive” into multiple outages, including some as a result of the use of AI coding features, the Financial Times reported, citing internal briefs and emails. According to the outlet, Amazon said there was a “trend of incidents” in the past few months with a “high blast radius” and relating to “Gen-AI assisted changes,” as well as other variables.

Earlier this month, Amazon’s website and shopping app were down for some users, with more than 22,000 users reporting an issue, according to outage tracker Downdetector. Customers were unable to check out, view prices for goods, or access their account information. At the time, Amazon said the outage was a result of “a software code deployment.”

I think ‘high blast radius’ refers to outage or service disruption.

I think ‘high blast radius’ refers to outage or service disruption.

Isn't flexibility, redundancy, one of Amazon's main selling points, in that they have several distributed back up servers, data centers?

There have been recent moves in various countries in Europe to ban cousin marriages. The current UK government is opposed to a ban, preferring a strategy of education. I'll merely note that there are strong feelings on both sides of the debate over which is the better strategy.

There do seem to have been a couple of instances of the NHS praising the "social capital" of cousin marriages in training materials. Here's an article in the Indy about it.

I haven't seen the training materials in question. It is certainly possible that they said something stupid. However, I think the training was for midwives, and it's a bit late for trying to dissuade a relationship at that point. A soft-pedal "I can see the benefits (or at least I'm going to tell you I can) but the rest of your family and your children should really consider all these downsides" approach seems defensible in that context, and might be spun by the press as "NHS supports cousin marriage". Unless somebody has seen a copy of the training I wouldn't care to guess whether it was actually stupid training materials or unreliable press coverage.

I saw a post on Facebook yesterday regarding how the author had once met Chuck.
The very first comment was IMHO quite rude, stating we shouldn't make heroes of bigots.
So I googled and found that Chuck was what I would describe as a magat, and therefore, despicable.
Then I found out that Chuck had died.

This reminded me of when I first learned that 'Chuck' Yeager was a bigot, about a year after his death, and posted something to the effect; 'Good riddance'
