AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around calculating the flow rate of water through a tainter gate based on its dimensions and the height to which it is raised. The gate is 21 feet tall and 14 feet wide, with a water level of 17 feet from the surface to the spillway. The user seeks to determine the flow for gate heights of 2 feet, 7 feet, and 10 feet, as well as the height required to achieve a flow rate of 2500 cubic feet per second (cfs). The total estimated water impoundment for the lake is 3 billion gallons. Assistance is requested to solve these calculations by the next day.

Homework Statement

A tainter gate for a lake is 21' tall and 14' wide and the water level is 17 feet from the surface to spillway. When the work is done how much water will flow through the gate if the gate is raised 2 ft, 7ft, and 10ft and how high does the gate have to be raised to maintain a flow rate of 2500cfs. the estimated impoundment of water for the lake is 3 billion gallons.

Thread 'Collision of a bullet on a rod-string system: query'
In this question, I have a question. I am NOT trying to solve it, but it is just a conceptual question. Consider the point on the rod, which connects the string and the rod. My question: just before and after the collision, is ANGULAR momentum CONSERVED about this point? Lets call the point which connects the string and rod as P. Why am I asking this? : it is clear from the scenario that the point of concern, which connects the string and the rod, moves in a circular path due to the string...
